This environment is my ode to all the legends of the Aegean for which I have boundless love.
I learned so much about tackling environments just by observing games especially that of Ubisoft; Their worlds re-create history with an artistic touch of fantasy. So I took houses and textures in AC-Odyssey as primary references since the only surviving depictions of the past are that of monumental architecture and I had nothing else to go by.
An undertaking this big meant that i had to make modular+reusable assets, while also optimizing to run in real-time (rtx 3060ti). Lots of time went to houses which were set up with a vertex painting triplanar material allowing 4 way texture blending + Nanite tessellation; enabling fast UVless workflow. Most assets are mine including many prominent textures and foliage. However tidbits like markets, fences statues, grass/grains etc. were from across the internet+Quixel, in some cases I retextured them to fit my scene.
